Video Recorder Camcorders
Does the FLIP camcorder work just like the older camcorders?
I need to update to a newer camcorder (also more compact size) & am looking for something simple & inexpensive. Does the FLIP allow you to continue recording with making several different videos everytime you stop? I am wanting to make a full DVD, so I would just like one that continues, but also allows me to look back if I need to & recorder over something, etc….

First of all, stay away from flips!! I absolutely hate working with them. Even the HD Flips are low quality. Try a Kodak HD. They are the same size but shoot much better video and audio. And both Kodaks and Flips are digital, but Flips have an internal memory system which means you can’t change the memory card (which is a pain in the butt).
And are you talking about using a tape-based camcorder? If so, you might think about getting digital, it’s hard to find tape cameras that aren’t a lot of money. Inexpensive cameras these days are digital and much easier to use than tapes, especially when just making family videos and such. When you use digital, you can plug the camera into the computer and have the option to burn the videos to a disk. You can also upload them into a user-friendly editing program, like iMovie, to make videos. Also, you can just delete videos instead of recording over them.
