Which is better : in your own opinion
the Sony HDR CX7 or the Sony HDR HC7
I’ll take HDV (onto miniDV tape) over anemic AVCHD. One of these days, they will improve AVCHD – and I’ll consider changing my mind. The current implementation has too many video quality issues.
Some other things you probably need to investigate…
What are you planning to edit with? If you go with HDV/DV and miniDV tape, your computer needs a firewire 400 port. Some low-end video editors cannot handle HDV or AVCHD.
How are you planning to archive your video (miniDV tape is cheap)? If you don’t re-use the tape, the tape becomes your archive. You will have an extra step archiving video with flash memory (or HDD) based camcorders.
