If i go by what i have been told then the 1/2 is better than the 1/3, but when i look at the videos on youtube the 1/3 (HDR-SR11) looks better than the 1/2 (HDR-SR7)

HDR-SR11

HDR-SR7

Well technically the bigger the chip the better the image. Seeing as how both of these cameras use the same CMOS chip then go with the bigger chip. With the bigger chip you’ll get a shallower depth of field which always looks good when shooting movies.

I’m not sure if looking at youtube videos are a great way to judge video quality. I’m sure in a side by side comparison both cameras would render color and image quality the same. You’ll probably only see a difference in the depth of field. Go with the 1/2 inch chip.
