I am looking into the Flip video camcorders or similar. Any advice?

I just started researching these last night. Looked at the Flip and a Sony version. If anyone has had these what can you tell me about them? Picture quality, battery life, features?

I have made at least one hike of more than 50 miles each summer since I can remember (about 50 now). I have always carried either a 135mm film camera or DSLR, and since 2002 have also carried either a GL-1 or GL-2.

I would rather carry 15lbs of camera, knowing that the images will be fantastic and well worth the effort, than carry 6 ounces of extra trash. (yep, I clip the handles off my tooth brush to save weight).

For great photos and occasional, short video clips where you don’t need high quality audio, consider one of the DSLRs with video capabilities.

Primaraly want video, sorry Palladin is right, the little, $250, Canon ZR960 will get much better video than any HD camera under $2000 (and not bad on the audio, too). It may not fit in a shirt pocket, but it is small and light enough to go in a small fanny-pack.

And it will keep you from coming back here and asking why your videos are so poor! lol
