Cleaning Camcorders (sony HC1)?
I have a Sony HC1, which is the HDV cam with a manual focus ring.
It’s gotten pretty stiff as of late, making smooth focus transitions impossible. Anyone know a way to clean it?
Be careful on what you use to clean it with, some chemicals will damage the plastic.
use a very soft brush like a Babies tooth brush and try to dislodge any dirt that may be stopping the focus ring., even getting a can of compressed air to blow the dirt /dust out. A silicon based lubricant, may help but only use a tiny bit, they are designed to need it.
Its going to cost but so many people forget about cleaning cameras after they have been used, maybe getting it serviced. My cameras get cleaned every time they have been used, and every 6 months they are serviced more often if the conditions have been bad sand, sea, dust.
