Sony Digital Cameras Underwater
Using a digital video camera underwater?
I have a sony camera now, it is expensive and good quality, but I want to take videos underwater or near water so i don’t need to worry when it gets wet. My question is… would you suggest getting a new video camera that is water proof or just get a case for my old camera. My old one CANNOT be messed up! How reliable are protective cases? Anyone who wants to share links for cameras or cases don’t hesitate, I know these can be pricey but if you know of something cheaper than a usual one please share a link! Thank you!
a quality wp case will cost more than a camera designed for underwater use. you can use a digital still camera with a movie mode, such as the olympus stylus 550wp or 8000 “tough”. or a camcorder like the sanyo xacti VCP WH1. if you plan on scuba diving then the 8000 is the best choise, the others are good for snorkel or boat use. these cameras will sink if dropped in the water, so you might consider getting a flotation strap if you are not diving.
