How do I put movies onto my Sony Cybershot?
I tried asking this one before but no one seems to know the answer.
I want to hook up the camera to the TV and play the videos I transfer onto the memory stick instead of having to burn a new DVD each time I want to watch a video.
I found a program that claims to do this but it’s crap.
I think the video files in the Sony Digital Camera are split into two sections.
There is a notepad file each time you make a video…so if you drag and drop an MPEG onto the camera’s memory stick and attempt to play it back with the camera it won’t work.
Although it is theorectically possible to do what you want, the technical hurdles make it difficult.
. You must transfer to the Memory Stick only the video format that the camera supports. I have 2 Cybershots (different models from different years), and they each support different video formats. Check your camera’s specs to see what format is supported.
. You must recreate the file structure that the camera expects. You must have the same folders and sub-folders, just like the camera creates itself.
Even if you get these exactly correct, there isn’t much capacity for video on a memory stick. A 1 GB stick only holds 6 to 12 minutes of higher quality video.
I use CD’s with JPEG stills and MPEG video to watch on tv. Most newer DVD players will play this format CD (it’s just like a Kodak Picture CD). And CD’s are inexpensive. And burning one won’t take any longer than trying to load a Memory Stick.
You don’t need to burn a “real” DVD.
Another possible solution is a memory card reader that converts to TV inputs. I had one of these before starting to use the picture CD’s.
