Is there a good Secure Digital Card FAQ site? Does it matter what the read speed is for digital cameras?
I bought a new digital camera. I’ve now moved from Sony to Canon. Anyway, Canon uses Secure Digital Cards for storing pictures rather than the memory sticks that I’m used to with Sony. There are so many different brands of SD cards out there, and they all have various read/write speeds. I understand that faster is generally better, but I’m wondering how much it matters and if it makes sense for me to buy the fastest card if my camera (the A620 model by the way) can’t even read/write it that quickly. I guess I just need a bit of advice. Thanks!!

I had a Nikon Coolpix 5900 with a basic Scandisk 512 MB. It worked fine for what I needed it for, point and shoot. It would lag a little when taking continuous shots, but was fine for video.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the speed unless you plan on taking continuous shots.
