How come videos stored to my digital camcorders memory card look like crap?
It is a Sony. Uses a SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo.
By “crap” I mean blurry and fuzzy.
The video also is a smaller than the screen on the camera when viewed on it.
Also, it is a HandyCam
Because any video stored to flash memory or hard disc drive or DVD based camcorders is compressed a LOT. If you want “best available video quality, use less compression. This could mean selecting the “high quality” menu item in your camcorder (which will result in less recording time)… If that is already selected, replace the camcorder. MiniDV tape based camcorders apply a lot less compression when recorded in SP mode in DV (or HDV) format – and transfered over firewire for editing.
We also don’t know if you are shooting in low light or if there is a lot of motion in your videos… It would a lot easier if you would define what “look like crap” really means.
