Sony Camcorders Cheapest Price
What is the difference between the “Sony HVR-HD1000u” and the “Sony HDR-CX12″?
the 1000u is in 1080i and i believe that the HDR-CX12 is in 1080p, which is better quality, yet it is so much cheaper. I need the differences between them and try to be detailed. I already know that one is more bulkier and the other one is shakier. Here are the links

The 1000U is shoulder mount. The CX12 is not. Advantage 1000U. In either case, use a tripod, steadicam device, camera crane or some other stabilizer. NEVER shoot handheld.
The 1000U has manual audio control, The CX12 has only a “MicRef Level” switch for normal or low mic gain. Advantage 1000U.
Both have a 1/8″ (3.5mm) stereo audio jack. Use a BeachTek or juicedLink XLR adapter for pro-grade mics.
The CX12 does not do 1080p. Both can do a digitally derived “Cineframe” that is not very good.
The 1000U saves to HDV file format. The CX12 save to very highly compressed AVCHD files. Advantage 1000U.
The 1000U uses miniDV tape and can record in standard definition DV and high definition HDV formats. The CX12 records to a hard disc drive. Advantage 1000U.
The 1000U has the same lenses and imaging chip the CX12 uses.
Please keep your expectations in perspective… You say “NEED A CAMERA SO IT WILL LOOK LIKE A PROFESSIONAL MOVIE THAT YOU WOULD WATCH AT A MOVIE THEATERS, AND IT HAS TO BE ONE OF THESE CAMCORDERS OR ANOTHER ONE THAT IS UNDER 1,400$”. But most of the movies in theaters are shot using Sony CineAlta, Panavision, Arri, VariCam film or Red cameras… They start at about $80,000.
You will not have the same quality or control in a “prosumer” camera. Both the HD1000U and the CX12 have small consumer lenses and imaging chips – their low light behavior will not be very good. If your lighting is good, the 1000U is a much better bet.
