how can i use a digital slr camera as a chronograph?(to measure speed)?
i want to use my digital slr to measure the speed of a projectile. the projectile will be travelling between 250 and 350 feet per second. the measurement doesnt have to be precise but +- 10 fps would be ideal. I was thinking either taking photos until i get a crisp shot, then somehow using the shutter speed to work out how fast it must have been going. or using a shutter speed that lets me see a trial aginst a known length background, like how a high speed camera would be used. can anyone tell me what method would work best, and if so, how to calculate it?

I agree with martin, use video. Your camera may have such a mode built in, as does mine.
