How do you transfer videotapes to dvd?
Its not those big vhs cassettes. Its those mini size cassettes that are used by the newer camcorders. I prefer to pay somebody to do it for me. Does anybody know of a place that provide these services – like bestbuy, circuit city or something like that?

You have a couple of options…
You don’t want to do it yourself – but you *could*
=> connect the miniDV tape based camcorder’s DV port to a computer’s firewire port using a firewire cable and import the video to the computer’s video editor, eidt then export/render a video file that can be used by a DVD authoring application (iDVD, DVD maker) and burn the DVD.
=> connect the camcorder to a “direct to DVD” burner (like the Canon DW-100).
But if you really want someone else to do that, then it might be best if you look for a local “video duplicating business” in your town. Maybe there is an event videographer (wedding videographer) willing to do the project for a fee. I don’t think the electronics retailers you mentioned provide those services, but next time you are there you could ask… Maybe someone on the Geek Squad has a side business doing that… Since we don’t know where you are, it is impossible to know what services might be available, locally, to you.
