Sd Format Camcorders
help needed with camcorders?
I am looking to buy a camcorder, but have very little idea of what to opt for – ideally I want one that is compatible with Windows vista, good picture and sound quality, but lightweight, easy to use and not too expensive. Im not sure of formats – can you get them that use a similar technology to a digital camera – eg sd/xd card – basically I want to be able to edit any film on my PC, and also make DVD copies

Sony are pretty solid no matter what model, thats what I’d recommend. You should probably get a Mini-DV format; its like a smaller version of a cassette tape. There are some brands that use SD cards, but the storage size is going to be a lot more than what is needed on digital cameras; when you get a 1 GB and bigger card, they get expensive, whereas Mini-DV tapes are only 4 dollars apiece. Check to make sure the camera has a dv-out or usb slot, a mic jack. Also check that your computer has a usb/firewire port, and you need an internal or external dvd burner if you want to make DVD copies.
