Why isn’t firewire more prevalent?
I understand firewire is the second or third fastest connection in retail computers, not including networking connections like ethernet. If it is a fast connection and included on most modern computers, then why has it been deligated to being mainly just for hooking up consumer electronics like camcorders? Did USB with its powered connections steal the market away from it?
USB is already so prevalent that firewire is unable to revolutionize the market, even though it is better. It is sort of like the QWERTY keyboard, which is far slower than other types, but was the original and has never been replaced.
