Professional Panasonic Camcorders
Wide conversion lens’s?
I have a sony hvr z1 professional camcorder and it has a 72mm lens diameter, i found it really hard finding a wide angle converter for it for a low price. now my question is would a 72mm wide angle converter for a panasonic slr camera be compatible. the thread is the same so i think it will physically fit onto my camcorder but will my camera be able to ‘see’ through it ok and give the desired wide angle effect, or is there a difference between wide angle converters for camcorders and ones for stills SLR cameras.

the main feature of SLR cameras is the that the lens can be changed, so normally you would get a separate lens for wide angle work and not a “converter”. also a 72mm filter diameter is awfully large for a SLR lens, the normal lens is usually about 50 – 60 mm filter size. 72 mm is the filter size for medium format 220 film.
my guess is the panasonic has a non-removable lens that is a 20x zoom. if they make the adaptor for that, then it should work for video as well. 72 mm is about 3 inch diamter.
