Panasonic Prosumer Camcorders
How do you use a 1/8-inch mic with a camera that only accepts XLR input?
I’m trying to film something using a Panasonic DVX100B prosumer digital camera, but would like to use a shotgun mic instead of the on-camera one. The only shotgun mic I have, however (Audio Technica ATR-6550), only has a 1/8-inch jack and a 1/4-inch adapter. I know the sound will not be too brilliant either way, but it’s my only option. Is there a way to do this? It seems there are a lot of converters for people trying to use XLR mics with camcorders, but not the other way around.

Go to your nearest music store and ask if they can make a female mini-jack to male XLR cable. That should do it.
