Outside Camcorders
Why would a high school prevent cameras or camcorders inside the fence during graduation ceremony?
My son’s graduation is coming up, and will be held outside at a public park. There is a fence around the park, and the school states that no cameras or camcorders are allowed inside the fence. All persons with cameras or camcorders must stay behind the fence. On such a special day as graduation, why should they be able to forbid us from capturing the event?
People with cameras and camcorders tend to go a little nuts during things like this. There’s a few nice, respectful people who just want to capture a memory, and then there’s the guy who goes out and buys a $4,000 camera setup with lights and microphones who stands in everyone’s way…in order to keep that guy (you know you’ve seen him) from blocking everyone else, keeping everyone behind the fence lets the rest of the audience enjoy the moment.
Additionally, the school may be recording the event with their own equipment, and selling the DVDs could be a money raiser. If they keep recordings away from the front then people will be more likely to purchase from the school because the view is better.
