HD MiniDV VS HD HDD (HardDrive) CAMCORDERS?
OK guys let me have it! Which one is better and why. At this moment I have a choice between the two. They cost the same as offered to me Model number for Mini DV is HDR-HC7 and Model number for HDD is HDR-SR7. There has to be pros and cons to these things and being its going to be my first camcorder I would like to know what is good about each, and what might not be so good about each. Thanks guys for the help!
PS This camcorder primary use is to recorde my 3 year old son from now and well into the future.
I checked out the HDR-SR7 , HC7 and CX7-the one which writes of a memory stick. I bought HDR-CX7.
You can get 1hr of HD video on 8gb memory stick. If you want to play it on TV – just take the sick out and put it into PS3 and Blu-Ray player. Very convenient. Just like HD model, it uses AVCHD technology to record HD videos.
MiniDV models use different format to record videos – it is less compressed, but takes up lots of space! I had MiniDV HD recorder for a few years now – it was a real pain to copy tapes to the computer (40gb per hour!). I bought a 1TB HD just to store the old miniDV videos.

EWA EWAEMVC1M Video Rain cape, cameras < 9 $109 The VC-1M raincape is a derivative of the well known VC-M raincape and replaces it. It was specially developed to match the requirements of the new camcorder generations and offers a lot of advantages compared to the VC-M raincape.
