Mini Dvd Camcorders
I have a Sony DVD HandyCam, do you know of any good editing software for it?
I’ve had this camcorder for a while and I can’t seem to find any editing software. I can find things that can copy or duplicate the Mini DVD but they can never seem to edit it. Should I get Vegas Movie Studio+Dvd 6.0? Is the Vegas software good for DVD camcorders? It would help a lot! Thanks

I have answered this question several times….
What you need to do, is to set the camcorder to EDIT MODE before you record onto the disk. With that, you will create “files”. Yes, files that can be edited.

Since you already have a standard DVD recorded, I have the answer, and this will work for you.
Download a program called ChopperXP, get it here. It is FREE!

Use ChopperXP to select any, or all scenes, from the VOB files on your DVD. Save the scenes onto your hard-drive. HOWEVER, you need to rename these new VOB files as MPG files (*.mpg), after you save them.
Now you can edit them with most editors. You can convert them. Whatever you need to do.
Next time, look in the menu settings of your DVDcamcorder and see if ther is a feature called “Edit Mode” (May be called something else if it isn’t a SONY HandiCam).
Insert a fresh new DVD into the camcorder.
When set in this mode, your DVDs will now be DATA disks that store video files that can be edited. The DVD may still need to be finalized, depending on wether you have DVD+R or DVD-R
Good news too. You can play that DVD DATA disk in most newer DVD players (but without chapters).
