What cheap camcorder has a decent optical viewfinder (not a small lcd)?
Are there camcorders that have one? (cheap ones, maybe semi-pro like canon XL2)
A friend borrowed a camcorder, and it was one of 1000 dollars or more, and only had a stupid lcd optical viewfinder, the onces you find in bridge camera’s
And at a brief look, it even had no manual control settings like shutter speed and aperture
a viewfinder with sufficient resolution to determine if a picture is in critical focus (like for HD) will cost over $800. that is why they are not a standard item on a cheap camcorder. it also explains why manual focus is not a good option either. as to manual aperature, again that would require a $2000 waveform monitor to correctly adjust. most people with camcorders don’t want to carry around a hundred pounds of studio equipment and connecting cables when out in the field. and pay field engineer to make the adjustments. the features you mention are best implemented in a television studio.
