Left Hand Camcorders
Do you have a GPS? How useful has it been for you? What features do you recommend?
I’m looking to get one shortly, but part of me wonders whether I’m just looking for a new toy. I don’t go on a lot of road trips, and usually, Mapquest gets me where I need to go.
On the other hand, I’ve never had a good sense of direction. Also, it would be nice to find places to stop on the road when you didn’t plan the stop before you left.
If you have recommendations for a GPS at $250 or less, I’m listening.

P.S. Should Y!A have a GPS category at this point? I’m putting this question under “Polls and Surveys” because I can’t get answers when I put GPS questions in “Electronics-Other.” Are GPS devices that much less popular than camcorders, which has its own category?
I don’t personally own one, but my company has two of them and I always use them when I travel on business. They are EXTREMELY useful. You can be a thousand miles away from home in a city that you’ve never been and its impossible to get lost. You can always stop any time that you want and the GPS will automatically recalculate your route. You can also pull over and find a list of local attractions, restaurants, or whatever and get directions to them immediately. There are no drawbacks to the GPS if you can afford one.
