Should I go for a DSLR or a Canon PowerShot SX200 IS?

So I have thirteen, and I really love to have more serious photography. I had a good few compact digital cameras, Fujifilm, Kodak, All That Jazz. However, I was never satisfied without my canon. It is likely that a deal breaker with a camera would be to have a macro setting. I am currently using an older model quite, the Canon PowerShot A460, I bought a few 3 years, is not the most attractive, but I love it. Im pretty set of fees and my budget is about $ 600, but something cheaper, of course would be wonderful (: I was thinking about the SX200, as the zoom is phenomenal, and its fairly compact makes it look easy to take with me. If I had to go for a DSLR I was thinking something like the Canon Rebel XS, which comes with a lens. So what I'm wondering if it's worth buying a digital SLR camera? Oh, and PS: I use my camera often, so any camera is not going to lose. Thank you!

You can not really compare. One is a point and shoot camera compact with a small sensor and the other is a digital SLR with a large sensor. A camera with a large sensor will always be better than a camera with a small sensor. The SX200 IS capture please …. ummm, 12x optical. But definitely not one of the best compact cameras from Canon in terms of image quality. One of its most stupid is the flash. That appears as soon as you turn the camera, and remains until you turn the camera, if necessary, the flash or not. In favor of the XS is … everything but the 12x optical zoom. You can buy the kit lens (which has IS) and once you know what focal lengths or styles photography preferred … You might think about buying a new lens or two. A good lens (especially a zoom lens) is not cheap, however. A primary objective of good and very cheap (focal length) is the EF 50mm F/1.8. It costs less than U.S. $ 100. I highly recommend it. That will allow you to shoot in low light and is ideal for portraits, For macro shots so good, you need a macro lens because you can not get great shots with Macro Macro setting on your camera. good luck … and should not be forget that you must use the viewfinder of a digital SLR camera to compose your shots, which is much better than holding your camera at arm's length to take a picture.
