(im only 14 and i have a kodak easyshare cd82 digital camera)
yeah my cat is too unrelaxed to take a picture like that 
It’s lit with an off camera flash in a softbox (you can see the softbox reflection in the cat’s eye) with a portrait lens of 50mm (or possibly a macro). The shutter speed is high to get rid of any ambient light (so flsh is the only light source) which is how you turn the background black.
It’s also a very co-operative cat!
