How fast is Firewire, compared to USB2?
Just curious, being that most miniDV camcorders use firewire to transfer video.
I think I read somewhere that firewire, for my JVC camcorder, is about 4MB/s. Not sure what USB2 is capable of.
USB2 is generally accepted as a 480Meg transfer rate. Firewire 1394a is rated at 400Meg while Firewire 1394b is rated at 800Meg!!! (Firewire 800 has a smaller connector than the older 1394a version).
Remember, these speeds are theoretical and your usage will depend on ALL of the factors including CPU speed, OS loading, memory, disk speed, etc.
