hp digital cameras problems
Digital camera problem?

I have a question. When i take pictures with my digital camera they look fine on the playback on the camera. But when i go to upload them they wont upload. So finally i can get some of them to upload on microsoft word and then i look and the picture is normal until i get to the bottom then it is all discolored and backwards. It usually happens with the outdoor pictures.

what could be wrong with my camera?

it is a hp photosmart m415 5.2 megapixel camera

in october i will have had it about three years
I did lose the usb cord and i am using the one from my mp3 player. i normally use this picture wizard but the pictures wouldnt download there at all. thats why i am using word. thanks for the help

My advice is to get a card reader – they can be had quite inexpensively these days – and forget about hooking the camera directly to the computer. A reasonably modern operating system will be able to have no problem handling the card reader and can transfer the JPEG files directly from the memory to the reader just as if you were copying a file from one area of your computer to another. The KISS (Keep It Simple, [insert favorite pet name beginning with S here]!) principle works wonders for sidestepping potential software problems.

Incidentaly, be sure to copy rather than move; the move operation writes data to the card to mark the file for delete. This may cause a subtle problem. If you have accidentally written data from your computer to the card, transfer all the data you can to the computer, if you haven’t done so already, and reformat the card IN THE CAMERA before attempting to store any more pictures from the camera to that card.

I routinely reformat my cards to clear them. It is faster and guards against problems from accidental writes. The downside to this approach is that it wipes out everything; you can’t protect anything on the card from deletion.
