Hi8 Camcorders
Are digital camcorders that record on Hi8 or Digital8 tape medium still widely used by some people ?
I own a Sony camcorder which records on Hi8 but I learned that MiniDV was the successor to Hi8 and became the widely accepted standard on which to record to.
Whilst I can transfer video directly from my Sony cam via a firewire port, I am sometimes put off with the ‘weight’ and ‘size’ of the camera therefore im seeking alternatives.
a) im in no rush to dive into the latest camcorders that record on hard disk as I dont have the financial means of getting such a cam.
b) are there any models that record on MiniDV taht are lighter and more compact than the Sony DCR-TRV 120 ?
The DCR-TRV120 is a Digital8 camcorder, not a Hi8. MiniDV is its successor, but the only practical difference is the size and weight – most MiniDV camcorders will be smaller and lighter.
