Should I buy a Zoom Q3 or the new Flip Video Slide HD?
Hi! I’m looking for a good camcorder that i can use for a concert im going to at the end of the month. I have checked out a lot of camcorders and my favorites are these 2. I really want a camera that records good sound and i read that the Zoom Q3 is the best for sound but the picture quality doesn’t look so great. I’m going to an Avenged Sevenfold concert and I really wanna try to record the whole thing with good quality! Which one should i buy? Is the sound on the Flip Video Slide HD good or am i better off getting the Zoom Q3? Thanks for your help!
The Zoom Q3 will get you better audio recording than the Flip SlideHD. The Zoom has stereo microphones with a X/Y pick up pattern. But the Slide would record video in HD. To have a pocket camcorder that records in HD video and do get good audio, consider the Kodak Zi8.
Being that you are taking a camcorder into a concert and want to record the whole thing, you’ll need at least one or more 16GB memory cards and extra batteries. And a better zoom lens than the Q3 (2X). The Flips and the Kodak Zi8 have 4X digital zoom. Digital zoom is not ideal as it’s basically magnifications of the pixels and not true lens zoom. But depending on how close you are to the stage, then having 4X digital zoom is better than nothing.

128GB of internal memory and can use memory cards (Flip Slide 16 GB and cannot use cards)
Can take 5.3MP still images (Flips and the Zoom Q3 cannot)
Has an external microphone input jack (Flips and theZoom Q3 do not)
Charges using an A/C power charger and/or regualr batteries (Flips must use USB source).
You would get a quality microphone to record good audio with the Zi8.
