whats better HDD camcorder or Flash memory or tape there all hd camcorders too?

I agree with Mandy and lare…

But I need to understand your question. What do you mean by “better”?

I define a “better” camcorder by the quality of the video it captures. While there are lots of ways to measure video quality, one fairly important method is to know how much data compression is used when the video is stored. Generally speaking lower video compression provides “better” potential quality. More compression means more video data is being discarded.

HDV is a high definition, digital video, format. In the consumer camcorder space, this usually means the storage media is miniDV tape.

MTS is a high definition video file type created by AVCHD compression used by most consumer flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders. It compresses the video files a LOT.

In this case, miniDV tape is the leader.

+++++++++++

Your requirements may be different and your definition might be better for…

=> “longest record time possible”. In this case, a hard drive camcorder would be more appropriate. Flash memory and miniDV tape will be limited compared to the MANY hours or video (the battery will run out of power before the large internal hard drive fills) an HDD camcorder can potentially record, unattended.

=> “smallest media for carrying in a pocket” would probably get the SD card or Memory Stick Pro Duo vote…

=> “longest battery run time” – flash memory camcorders have fewer moving parts compared to miniDV tape or hard disc drive…

=> “dealing with high vibration levels” would be either flash memory or miniDV tape because they don’t have the hard drive mechanism “floating” over hard disc drive platters for recording the video.

So… until we know what you mean by “better” it is a bit of a challenge to provide an accurate, useful response – unless someone guesses correctly…
