External computer screen recorder?

When I get my new Macbook Pro I want to the record the screen while I’m playing World of Warcraft but I want at least 40 FPS on the video. Unfortunately, the capture program will suck away a lot of the frames. Is there some way to use the mini-DVI port on the Macbook Pro to record the screen externally with another device? I know some camcorders can record through S-Video, do any of them support DVI? Also, with the 128 MB video card on the basic Macbook Pro, will I lose any FPS at all by attaching another output through the mini-DVI port? All help is appreciated.
I need it in a popular digital format (wmv, avi, mp4, etc) so I can edit the video without losing quality by converting it.

Try using a camcorder or a VCR.
I think you should be able to buy a cable that plugs into the DVI port and then has a connector for your monitor as well as composite video for your camcorder or VCR.

These cables are widely available on the internet.
