obviously its old and i would get it off ebay. but why would a student with such technologies and digital cameras at hand what would make her want to use this.

You may be better served to buy the Nikon F4, the fourth incarnation of that fine camera. What it has is the ability to use all the Nikkor manual focus lenses as well as the new AF-S, super fast auto-focusing lenses.
Rather than risking buying a piece of junk some unscrupulous person is selling on eBay, look on craigslist for such a camera in a city near you. At least you can look at the camera for obvious damage and test its functions before you hand over your money
