Digital Cameras Waterproof Shockproof
What’s a good digital camera to take on a rainforest trip?
I’m going on a school trip to the rainforests in south america next week, and can’t bring my old faithful digital camera along because it uses a rechargeable battery and we won’t have electricity for two weeks. I’d also like it to be somewhat waterproof and shockproof. Do you know of anything that might work?
You will need to take a 35 mm SLR camera since you will have no way to charge batteries. They are not waterproof or shockproof.
The good news is I spent ten days camping in the Olympic National Forest which is a rain forest. I kept my camera in a backpack in a ziplock bag. I carried extra bags in case one stopped sealing and at the end of the camping trip, my camera was still working and did not show any signs of damage due to moisture.
Shockproof is something that has only appeared recently in P&S cameras (they need batteries though) I think form the fact that people don’t take care of their cameras and electronics as well as they used to.
