Digital Cameras Testing
Why no digital cameras in all police cars?
We are in the digital age, yet some police cars dont have onboard cameras. Then, the law states even if they do – the video evidence is submittable only if the prosector wants to submit it. I as the person charged do not have access to the video evidence. And, what about this – I was pulled over for a possible DUI and had my camera in the car which can shoot video.. I asked my friend ( passenger ) to film the field sobriety test the officer was about to give me – officer would not let my friend film it…. Talk about unfair laws? They get to film the snenario at hand, but when I want to, I am denied.
Almost every vehicle in my agency has a dash cam. You can get the dash video if you file a motion for discovery. You can get it, you just need to know how. The Officer has every right to control the traffic stop and not let your friend out to interfere with his sobriety tests. It is a safety matter and a common sense one.
