My computer wont read my new cam due to a “malfunction”….please help?

I recently got a Mustek DV 5500 camera, and i was all psyched cuz its a webcam and videocame and digital cam…but when i downloaded the drivers and connected it to my comp…i got this message
“One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.”
can someone please help me? i dont know what to do! i really want this to work! thanks!
