Sand in my camera. How to fix it, or where to take it?
I carelessly got a little bit of sand in my digital camera. It worked fine for about an hour, and after that the shutter wouldn’t open on its open. I can very easily open it with my fingers, but it won’t pop open when I press the button.
Is there an easy way for me to fix this on my own? If not, does anyone have any idea where I could take it to be fixed? Will it be expensive? I live in Indianapolis, if anyone knows of something local.
Going to a camera store will be able to get you an estimate for how much a repair of that type will cost. I would highly suggest that you not attempt it on your own. In order to get all of the sand out of a camera, the camera needs to be disassembled and reassembled. It would be an expensive repair as well. Much of the cost to any repair job is the labor, and getting rid of sand in a camera is a time intensive job. This is not to mention that even if your warranty is still in effect, unless you bought a separate repair contract with the retailer, this will not be covered.
It may be cheaper for you to get a new camera all together.
