From Photoshop Editing to Kodak Digital Printing?
I am working on an artwork in Photoshop. Now, my question, how many pixels per inch will my dimension be and what possible formats (.jpg, .gif, etc.) will i use if i am to print it in KODAK. My artwork is always clipped or has a border whenever i print it in KODAK. I don’t know what to do. I want it clean-print as if it was taken from a digital camera. Thank you very much for your help.
Your question is a bit vague, What’s Kodak printing? I’ll assume you mean a print shop that uses Kodak gear.
Anyway, in Photoshop goto File>New. in the dialogue box enter the size of canvas you want in Inches (Ask your print house what are their standard paper sizes and use one of those). Then in the resolution box alter the resolution till the file size (bottom right) gives a reading of 1 Meg per Inch on the the longest dimension.
Make sure the Colour Mode is RGB Colour and the bit depth to 8 bit. These are the usual settings for an external print house.
This formula of 1 Meg per Inch will always give a good print, this can be checked when you have done your Art work by double clicking the Zoom Tool (the magnifying glass) which will view your file at 100%. Press and hold the Spacebar and Left Click and Drag to move around the Image.
When your happy flatten the image (Layer>Flatten Image) and Save your file as Jpg. Note if you have any Layers in your picture these must be flattened first or jpg will not be an option in the save dialogue box.
The default for most printing houses is to put a border around everything, ask if they do borderless printing.
