Digital Cameras Brand Names
Are non-brand name digital cameras worth buying?
My Sony Powershot broke & I need a new camera but I want an inexpensive one. Should I settle for a non-brand name camera like a Visitar, Vistaquest or Mini since I can buy a 10MP camera for cheaper than a 7MP brand name camera?
Will the quality be good?
Megapixels is only half the story. A 10MP cheapo camera with a plastic lens will never be as good as a Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc 7MP with a good quality lens.
If the cheapo is cheap enough to consider it disposable then go fo it but don’t expect the best quality.
If it must be cheap then what about getting a used one from Ebay?
Sometimes cheapo cameras can be useful – I was taking photos of my grandaughter at the beach using my old Nikon Coolpix 2200. 2MP but really good pics. Luckily I was using this and not my Canon 450D because she thought it would be a good idea to throw a bucket of seawater at me! Goodbye Nikon – you were a great buy off Ebay for £30!!! Lasted me 3years before its untimely demise.
