Digital Cameras Apple Compatible
Digital Camera Selection – Video File Format?
I need to buy a new digital camera for my kids. It seems that some cameras store the video file in .mov format (Apple Quicktime) which requires additional software (though often availalable for free) for playing, editting, publishing, etc. Other cameras use MS Windows compatible .avi files. Which would you choose and why?
Of the cameras I’m looking at, the one that outputs in .mov format costs about 20% less for otherwise equivalent camera/features and I’d probably buy that one but I’m not so sure if the .mov hassle would negate that price advantage.
You have probably selected the least important of all camera criteria to base a decision on. It is simple to convert formats. How about the video quality, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio capability, pixel count etc?
