Digital Cameras Airport Screening

Will any of the airport security damage/erase info on my digital camera?
I have a Sony CyberShot. I’m not sure of the number, but it has a touch screen if that tells you anything. I’m going to be flying to the Bahamas next week, and I was wondering a few things about my camera and the airport security…
- I’ve heard the magnetic belts and stuff and the x-ray machines can erase memory or harm the camera. True? If so, what do I do about it?
- Do I just tell the airport security guards I have a camera in my possession, or what?
- What kind of camera case would be best to deal with in airports, preferably one that can be bought at walmart?
Any information is appreciated. =]
If the card is in my pocket, will the walk-through metal detectors do anything to it?
No. I have been carrying digital cameras through airport security since 1999 with no problems. Wal Mart has some Case Logic brand cases, they are a good brand.
