Can you recommend a good digital camera with these specifications?
The camera must be at least 10 megapixels (although i would prefer 12), it must shoot HD video, and it has to come with a rechargeable battery.
Oh, it must also cost under $200.
I did a lot of research and i know there are many out there, but according to reviews they aren’t very good. Can you make a recommendation? Thanks
First off, why would anyone want that many megapixels in a sub-$200 camera? Same with HD video? You are asking for poor results.
The “cheapest” camera that I in good conscience can recommend that meets those specs is the Canon SD940IS which has an MSRP of $299 and I’m sure you can find it for a little less. In fact, now that I read more up on it, I’m pretty sure I’ll buy one myself. Aside from having too many megapixels and HD video to clutter up my memory card with unnecessary pixelbits, it looks like it is an otherwise great camera, with image stablization, good low-light performance, and a wide angle lens- all of which you will want if you plan to be using a camera for any type of video.
ps, if you’ve already done a lot of research and read from people who are experienced at evaluating cameras that the cameras meeting your description tend not to be good… why would YA give a different answer? When a product can’t be found to meet your specifications and budget with out unacceptable compromises, the only answer is to revise either your budget (get the Canon) or your specifications (get a cheaper Canon, Olympus, or Fuji.)
Oh, also consider last year’s Canon SD780, it has all the features you asked for but it a little closer to the $200 mark with an MSRP of 249 and available just under $200 from a lot of sites online.
