Digital Camcorders Batteries

digital camcorders batteries
Are rechargeable batteries OK for TV/DVD/Stereo Remote controls? (NiMH or other)?

I am looking to use rechargeable AA and AAA batteries in my TV, DVD and Stereo remote controls (trying to both save $$ in the long term and produce less trash).

I believe that most NiMH batteries are designed for high power, quick use situations, like digital cameras, camcorders, portable CD players, etc.

I am concerned that the batteries will lose charge over time, as remote controls use very little power and are only used for minutes a day.

Does anyone have any technical expertise to provide suggestions?

Thanks……..

I used to buy new batteries almost every time I went shopping–then I decided to bite the bullet and try the rechargeables. One of the smartest things as a consumer that I’ve ever done.

So, to answer your question: absolutely, yes, they’re ok. I have been using rechargeable batteries for years, specifically for the five remote controls in my living room. I haven’t noticed any battery charge loss whatsoever, and even if that were to happen, it wouldn’t be by much–and I always have four spare AAs sitting in the charger, which I quickly just exchange. It’s quicker than going to the store–and ridiculously cheaper, in the long run.

Just beware of some of the rechargeable “D” batteries–I read that they actually have the same power as the “C” batteries, just in a larger casing. Make sure you read the fine print. Also, try to get a charger that fits both AAs and AAAs–I had to buy two separate ones.
