Consumer Choice Camcorders
Are all modern consumer camcorders using the H.264 format to record HD video?
I am going to purchase a camcorder to record videos of my upcoming vacations but it seems the majority of the new camcorders that record in HD uses the new H.264 format. Is this the only choice I have when it comes to recording in HD?

Many consumer flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders record using AVCHD compression to MTS or TOD files.
Many still-image cams that capture high definition video as a convenience feature store 720p high def video to MOV or AVI h.264 files.
The JVC GM-HY100 stores to an interesting MOV file format.
The Canon EX series stores to a new high definition format.
The Panasonic pro series P2 camcorders record to DVCPRO HD.
The Sony PMW series records to HDCAM format.
