Comparing Camcorders Features

April 5th, 2007

What features should I look for in a camcorder?

I am hoping to buy a hd camcorder. I’m confused because I have seen camcorders that are really cheap and some that are quite expensive even though they both are 1080p HD. What other specs should I be comparing?
The video quality is the most important for me, then the sound quality.
Thanks!

I have used lots of video camera’s in the past and I must say the one which has impressed me the most is my CANON HF 10 it uses solid state memory so no hard drive to go wrong no tapes to snap and no laser to burn out, it can record onto its own internal memory or onto SD cards up to 16 GB which gives me plenty of recording time, it has an easy point and shoot mode for both stills and video, but if you take the time and learn how to use all the different modes the end results are stunning with this camera. the 12x optical zoom is very smooth and controllable, sound quality is very good you get an electronic wind filter which does the job well, all the controls are placed where they should be and the camera feels very solid and well made, but in the end the best thing is to try a few cameras see if you like how they feel in your hand and how easy the control menu system is to navigate when you are actually using the camera, I have found that Canon and Sony camera’s give excellent colour balance, bottom line try before you buy its rule number one for buying a Camera of any type, good luck with your purchase and have fun with your camera.
