Digital Camera specs, what to look for when buying?
I have a low end digital camera that takes too long from the time I press the button until it snaps the picture. I cannot even catch slow action, let alone sports shots. What specification should I look for to compare models. What is a reasonable spec to require. I am cheap so I do not want the high end stuff.
Your problem could just be your technique. All digital cameras must first autofocus and calculate shutter speed and aperture before they can take the shot. You do this by holding the button down halfway until you hear the beep, THEN you push all the way down and it will almost instantaneously take the picture. If you just push it all the way down without autofocusing first, ALL point-and-shoot cameras will have a delay for that calculation period. The trick is to preemptively hold the shutter button down halfway until the shot is framed and you are ready then get the quick shot.
