Which brand has the best camcorders?
canon, panasonic, samsung, sony..which one? I am looking for a good high definition camcorder which is affordable. Also in UK which shop sells the best ones? Currys, comet, argos etc..
In my opinion, Sony. The quality is really good and they don’t fill it with bullsh*t like a lot of other manufacturers. And the menu layout is good, they haven’t made the menu look like a toy camera and the way they’ve laid out the menu gives a lot of room; it doesn’t cover up half the action that you’re trying to get.
And it’s a fact that the majority of cameras that the BBC use are from Sony. Nobody will tell me different because my parents work there. I’ve been to BBC studios a lot, and every time I go, they’re using Sony cameras. Not just the studios but on the street as well.
Sony cameras and camcorders may be a little bit more than others, but it’s completely worth it. And like I’ve said before, the menu isn’t laid out like a kids toy camera; it’s laid out cleverly so it doesn’t get in the way of most of the action.
And, personally I’d go to Jessops to buy the camcorder. My camcorder came from John Lewis (Obviously it’s a Sony) but whatever store has it cheapest then go there as long as it’s the correct model. But Jessops seems like a good place to buy cameras.

(And like the guy says below, Canon is rather good as well. But they seem to be better in the professional department rather than at consumer camcorders)
