Canon Hdmi Camcorders
Playing back HD Video from a Canon HV30?
I have a Canon HV30 MinDV camcorder. I need to consolidate 5 tapes (which have gaps of blue screen between recorded pieces) to one smooth production with subtitles, music and transitions. I have a 52″ Sony HDTV. When I playback via the camcorders HDMI “OUT” to the HDTV’s HDMI “IN” the picture quality is amazing and I don’t want to lose any of the 1080i quality. I can get the data into the PC via firewire IEEE port. Once I have the finished file saved on my PC, how do I view that on my HDTV? Is there a way to record it back onto the tape medium without losing quality due to compression? My PC does not have an HDMI output and I do not have a blue ray burner however I do have a PS3. Any Suggestions? I should probably buy a fast PC with HDMI out and or a blue ray burner. Will a Blue Ray disc made on my PC look as good as HDMI out from the camcorder?
There are several ways.
1) Export the video form the computer to the camcorder over firewire with a new blanck tape. Use the camcorder as the playback deck. Connect using HDMI or component (RGB) plus audio cables.
2) Render the video as a computer file (h.264/AVC) and connect the computer to the HDTV with VGA and audio cables. Use the computer as the “playback deck”.
3) Get an AppleTV or similar “media center” device. Send the h.264/AVC files from the camcorder to that media center device and use it as the playback device.
4) Render out to AVCHD format video then burn to a regular double layer or single layer DVD. Your PS3 will be able to play back this high definition file. These discs do not hold much (8.5 gig or 4.7 gig, respectively), so heads up. BluRay blanks start at 25 gig – and they are pretty expensive, but yes, if you get a BluRay burner and use BluRay blanks, if you do not downsample, the video that gets on that disc should look very good.
