Canon Dvd Camcorders Recording

What camcorder (not DVD) is super-easy to edit, costs under $400, and is great for indoor recording?
I am a amateur filmaker who wants to put videos on youtube. I have tried in the past to attempt to take tape-based camcorders and transfer them to a computer, but that was a mess! I tried a fire-wire cable and that didn’t work. I am thinking about the Canon FS100, but read it got horrible reviews for lowlight (which might be indoor lighting). Any suggestions?
