Canon Digital Cameras Boston
LEGAL ISSUE/MORAL PROBLEM?
My friend & I went on a trip to downtown Boston. While walking on the sidewalk, he pulled out his camera, and I, totally unaware of him doing that, abruptly moved my arm, thus knocking the camera out of his hands. It was not on purpose & completely accidental. Also, he did not have the safety strap on his arm.
The camera has suffered no visible damage, just the lens has slightly popped out, and is inclined to one side.
We took the it to a camera store (i.e. Wolf, Ritz) & they said it would cost $135 to repair the lens.
Now, my friend demands that I pay 75% of the damage.
I’m agreeing to 50%, since it’s HIS camera, I did not do it on purpose, he wasn’t holding on to it properly, and I’m poor ):
He says I knocked it out of his hands, therefore I pay the majority.
Do I pay 50% or 75% – or is it even worth it to pay that much for an initially costing (2008) $200 CANON digital camera?
