Reduce video camera tape noise?
I have a Canon ZR830 (http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/minidv_camcorders/zr830) miniDv Camcorder. And I usually use Sony DVC-60 PRR/5 Premium Minidv Videocassette (http://www.mini-dv-tapes.org/sony-dvc60-prr5-premium-minidv-videocassette-5pack-product-product-reviews/) for tapes.
When I was watching some of the stuff I recorded you could hear the tape rolling in the background. I only use Windows Movie Maker so I have nothing special to reduce this.
Is there a better tape to use (one that won’t make so much noise) or a way to reduce it (my mom suggested I wrap something around the camera to muffle/try and reduce the noise)
Any ideas? The faster the better because I need to film something in a few days and I would really like to have better quality sound.

I do not know if wrapping something around the camera will muffle the tape drive noise. I have several Canon ZR models and have never noticed the tape as being a sound issue. It is unfortunate that the ZR830 does not have a Mic jack.
I use things found on this page http://www.asimplelife.ca/boss.html To enhance my audio. The microphone on any consumer level camera, be HD, or Tape drive, can pick up good sound to about the 4or 5 feet from the camcorder, sound quality deteriorates rapidly the further from the camera you get.
I rent any wireless Lavaliere Mics from my local Music store. They sell Drum kits, Guitars, flutes, everything musical. They are audio experts and have helped me immensely. Your local Music shop would probably do the same thing. Visit them and see what they can do for you.
