Canon Camcorders Microphone
Which camcorder is best for editing with iMovie?
Our staff wants to be able to make short videos to post on our website. These would be some talking-head type pieces, but also possibly shooting some lecture type events. I have a budget of about $1000. I think it’s important for a good bit of the budget to go to a couple of good microphones and a tripod.
I like the Panasonic HDC TM700, but it’s $750, which will eat up most of my money. Also looking at a couple of Canons–the Canon VIXIA HF M300 ($349) and the Canon VIXIA HF R10 ($279). I definitely want input for a microphone and headphone, which all of these have. Apparently Canon is the only brand that usually includes microphone/headphone jacks on the under $500 camcorders.
Is the Panasonic worth the extra money? Any other suggestions for a good camera for $250-$600? Any good suggestions for microphone, tripod, lighting, etc? Thanks!
I will be editing with iMovie on a MacBook, so everything needs to be compatible with that.
First, use the iMovie camera compatibility wizard to check any camera you are considering.

I use Sanyo cameras which record in a perfect file format for iMovie.
