What is the best value-for-money camcorder system?
I am wishing to upgrade my camcorder [Canon V400 8mm video camcorder]. I’m confused over conflicting reports of how easy (or not) editing is on mini DVD and HDD camcorders.
To my mind half the fun of these things is to edit the films into something vaguely entertaining without boring the pants off everybody who has to endure the experience. My computer runs Windows XP and has a dvd burner, and I also have a DVD recorder alongside the TV. Anyone been there and got the T-shirt?
I have a Panasonic DVC-30 which is MiniDV and i love it. the picture quality is amazing. I don’t know what you heard about the ease of transferring and editing MiniDV but its pretty easy. For some they use a Fire Wire cable to transfer and for the others they use usb… the ones that use Fire Wire like mine come with an a/v cable to use if you don’t have a 1394 plug on your computer but the picture quality is considerably less than with the Fire Wire. HDD cams also use Fire Wire or USB. so no matter what one you get it will transfer the same, but I’d recommend MiniDV to HDD.
